Mark Deo is a musician as well as author and

inspired by his many travels around the world.
Thus the title Distant Places. It
contains influences of Flamenco Classical,
English Rock, American Jazz, Asian Kyoto, Middle
Eastern Arabic and Pacific Island flavors.
He was classically trained at Rowan University and studied with the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society.
Mark's musical background includes a world tour with the 1976 rock band Heavy Traffic, appearances on Manhattan cable and NJN, back-up for Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes and his lead guitar licks were a staple of the N.Y. Village scene and the New Jersey shore clubs of the mid-70s and early-80s.
Appearing on this album with Mark is keyboard wizard James Healey, the world's greatest bass player, Jaco Patorius from Weather Report fame and South Bay classic rock sensation Eric Bjerke.
We hope you enjoy these home-spun selections recorded in Mark's own studio.
